Whether you’re new to widowhood or have been widowed for years, there are unique challenges best understood by fellow-widows. Let me show you how my experience with loss has enabled me to leverage my professional abilities as pharmacist, health coach and now widow coach to every client applying a customizable program to meet your individual needs and concerns.
The reality is that you will grieve forever. You will not ‘get over’ the loss of a loved one; you’ll learn to live with it. You will heal and you will rebuild yourself around the loss you have suffered. You will be whole again but you will never be the same. Nor should you be the same nor would you want to. -Elizabeth Kubler-Ross
Widow Rising endeavors to both support and challenge widows and widowers as they begin to reimagine and rebuild after loss.
Almost 1 million in the U.S. become widowed each year. Perhaps you are here because you are a new widow/er and could use some guidance. For some widows/ers, their loss is entirely unexpected and for others it has been long anticipated and represents the end of a painful journey through illness. Each widow/er has a unique story. Whatever your story, there is help! It would be my privilege to speak with you and see if we are a good fit to share a 3,6,9 or 12 week journey together.
If you have heard the term Widowhood Effect or “broken heart syndrome’ you may know it can be a consequence of losing a spouse and many studies provide evidence that the risk is real particularly as we age, especially in the first few months of losing a spouse. In addition, it is suggested that upwards of 80% of new widows will receive a major diagnosis within two years of losing their spouse. Allow me to be your guide as you reimagine and rebuild your life while prioritizing wellness.
I fondly refer to this document as ‘the greatest gift’ you can give to your loved ones or anyone else charged with carrying on if you were to pass. The guide started as a simple compilation of basic information and has transformed into a comprehensive document that serves as a road-map for everything a loved one would need to know in your absence. I can help you get your life on paper while allowing you to maintain your privacy, all through a series of well-rehearsed prompts, practiced over numerous clients.
With over 3 decades of experience as a pharmacist and more than half of that time dedicated to clinical practice, I am well-poised to partner with individual clients to sort out complex medication regimens and develop clear and thoughtful strategies to optimize and /or reduce medications, particularly in the senior client. I develop a report which provides talking points to facilitate conversation with your provider and aid in shared decision making.
If you’ve lost a loved one, you might remember people saying “Let us know if there’s anything we can do” and not knowing how to respond. Grieving people need support but often are too exhausted to ask for it, and many people want to help but don’t know where to begin. This free PDF printable provides suggestions for what to say and how to help, for both the widowed and those wanting to help the widowed.
